The Dow Chemical Company purchases PreciseInhale, ISAB’s dry powder aerosol R&D system
One of the world’s largest and most innovative chemical companies, Dow, has chosen ISAB’s PreciseInhale system for its work in Toxicology and Environmental Research. ISAB CEO Fredrik Sjövall: “We are delighted to be working with a global leader in innovation and sustainability.”
Dow is purchasing PreciseInhale for toxicokinetic and exposure-response modelling work in its Toxicology and Environmental Research and Consulting laboratory in Midland, Michigan. Dow develops a wide range of innovative new products, has an impressive record on sustainability and collaborates with many of the wold’s leading academic, scientific and business innovators. Dr Jon Hotchkiss, senior inhalation toxicologist at Dow, says: “We have a robust, multidisciplinary, strategic testing plan and I am very excited about incorporating PreciseInhale into it.”
Dow: Innovation and sustainability leaders
In 2016 three Dow technologies have won the Global IChemE Awards, 15 are finalists in the 2016 R&D 100 Awards. Dow has also been named a sustainability leader in the chemical industry – for the sixteenth time – by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Dow is one of only 11 chemical companies named in the 2016 World Index, which ranked the Company in the top 10 percent of the global chemical industry in terms of sustainability performance.
PreciseInhale and environmental and toxicological research
Toxicological and environmental research is in the DNA of PreciseInhale: The system was first developed at the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute in the US as part of founder Dr Per Gerde’s, research into radioactive diesel dust dosimetry in the lungs.
Within Sweden, PreciseInhale has been purchased by Swetox, a cross-university initiative researching the effects of inhaled Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDCs) – and Karolinska Institutet – for its research into the effects of inhaled nanoparticles. Karloinska Institutet also purchased PreciseInhale’s advanced exposure module XposeALI, which cultures cells in an Air Liquid Interface.
